i couldn't stop tearing up afterwards for this deep, instilled, forever loneliness I felt.
This movie showed me a racial loneliness, something that african americans experience that no one else can understand, a gender loneliness, something that men experience that women can't understand, a socio-economic loneliness, something that people who are gentrified out of their homes would never be able to share with the rest of the world.
In the end, even those who do experience similar things are still so lonely. In the end, no two people have the same sorrow.
In the end, Jimmie sails far away, to an unknown destination. Honestly, I feel that the culture of this whole country is going somewhere unknown.
The lostness echoes in each frame.
But then again, bringing this movie to the big screen allows others to peek into something they might never have imagined. E said that, there is no profound new discovery, everything depicted in this movie is mere reality.
A reality that some of us never gets to live. A reality that some of us are so easily removed from.
I guess empathy is the only word I can leave here. Who are we if we don't see into others lives with a bit of empathetic gaze, trying to experience their pain. Afterwards, even being able to share a little tiny bit of pain together, we can connect, and move in the world carrying each other.
