De Deur (The Door) is the title of a volume of poems written by the Dutch poet Bert Schierbeek. Inspired by the death of his wife, the poems have the simplicity and the power of pain, softened by a touch of humour and the magic of language: to speak of one's loved one's absence is to make her present.
